What Perfume Smells Like Soap?

When you say the word soap it is usually entangled with the words fresh, clean and pure.

In perfumes, that’s what you want to mimic in soapy fragrances. You have scents that are closer to nature and are mostly dewy and zesty. These scents usually blend in naturally with the skin. People are attracted to the soapy fragrances because you get a feeling of freshness and pleasant simplicity.

Chypre

One of the most popular families of fragrances used in soapy scents is Chypre. It means the island of Cyprus in French and has an accord of citrus top notes, cistus labdanum in the middle, and mossy-animal-ic base notes from oakmoss. This combination gives you that refreshing and natural tone to perfume.

Other popular ingredients used in soapy perfumes are patchouli, bergamot, and neroli.

Common Ingredients In Soapy Scents

Notes of Soapy Scent – Patchouli and Neroli

Patchouli has a distinct, herby and natural scent. It has a dense aroma that gives a dewy, earthy hint to perfumes.

Bergamot is a light, tart citrus that’s mildly spicy. It brings that fruity, slightly floral freshness.

Another citrusy note is Neroli. It also has that somehow bitter and refreshing aroma to it. It is extracted from the peel and leaves of bitter oranges and is used in the production of petitgrain oil. Neroli is a great ingredient in perfumes as it locks in aromas naturally and pairs well with a lot of citrusy and herby scents.

Citrusy and Soapy Notes

The reason why citrus plants are preferred when it comes to soapy fragrances is because of the presence of linalyl acetate and linalool in its chemical structure. The pair is often found in citrus fruits and flowers. Linalyl acetate is a phytochemical responsible for that pleasant relaxing scent. Linalool is a scent derived from fruits and flowers and is often used in soaps, detergents, and lotion. The combination of linalyl acetate and linalool is what gives that dewy, fresh fragrance that is alluring and calm.

Soapy Scent – Vetiver

Vetiver is another ingredient often used in soapy fragrances. It is a grass plant and no synthetic substitute has been found for its oil. Vetiver has a cooling scent to it and is quite soluble in alcohol making it a popular ingredient in colognes. Vetiverols are similar to acetates as they make scents mild and pleasant.

Perfumes that smell like soap

Perfumes that smell like soap are basically combinations of ingredients that are leaning towards fresh, natural aromas locked in by musky, animal-ic and sometimes waxy notes. They give off an inviting and lovely scent. The bright, zesty, and sometimes spicy tones are usually used as top notes. These are fragrances that complement warm weathers well.

Prada L’homme and Prada La Femme

This combo is a his and hers duo. Launched in 2016, both perfumes have the quintessential Prada scent ingredients –amber and iris. The vision for both fragrances is for them to be light yet captivating. The two are accompanied by top notes of carrot seeds, geranium, and patchouli. L’homme has more of a neroli and violet scent to it. And Le Femme has magnolia, bergamot, tuberose, and vetiver blended in.

Coming from the House of Prada, the two fragrances offer an indulgent and luxurious take on fresh, delicate and soapy aromas. Both fragrances are simple but not underwhelming. Prada L’homme and Prada La Femme are best for formal daytime affairs. They are great as an everyday scent and both are lovely perfumes to wear in warmer weather.

Another really interesting thing about the duo is that the longevity is quite great for a soapy fragrance. The scent can last for hours without losing its depth thanks to its amber base note. Sillage is also deep and does not fade quickly. You’re sure to attract many praises when wearing them.

Thierry Mugler Cologne

The scent was inspired by soaps crafted in Morocco. Thierry Mugler was quite fascinated by the exotic aromas he found from them and decided to replicate the lushness of the experience in the form of a scent. Alberto Morillas is one of the people behind the classic cologne. Thierry Mugler Cologne went public in 2001.

The concoction consists of bergamot, petit grain, neroli, and balanced with African Orange Flower and white musk. It has an invigorating start to it that blends smoothly into a musky, aqueous base.

Thierry Mugler’s Cologne is a stunning summer scent that is bright and dewy.  It livens up the senses with a spicy and tangy introduction so it’s great to wear during the start of the day. It is great for going outdoors and gives you that refreshed vibe with a spritz. You’ll also love how the scent finishes off cleanly and subtly as the day closes.

This cologne works well as a scent for both males and females. It does last for hours but the sillage fades away pretty quickly.
